The one question that I am referring to is based on Secret #2:  “Life is not a matter of chance, but of choices that we make along the way.”

That “secret” should be obvious. Why did I have to learn that “secret” along my journey?

First:  Growing up in a strict Catholic upbringing, there were few opportunities for real decision making.  Most situations were black or white; right or wrong.  I was taught to follow the rules, obey those in authority, and not to make waves and everyone would be happy.

Second:  When there was a choice to be made, I made my option thinking of others first. Others’ needs, others’ desires, and others’ opinions were top priority.  It was considered selfish putting myself first.

But along my way I discovered one question that I use now to help ensure my own happiness, living guilt-free.

Incorporating this question, “How does this serve me?”, into my daily routine has helped me put events, people, and ordinary things into perspective.

Answering this question helps propel me to my highest purpose in life.  I think it’s more than what Dr. Phil asks,”How’s that working for you?”  To me that indicates the situation is tolerable, just getting by and making the present situation work.   I think it’s more than that. It’s more like:   “is this job, friendship, or opportunity serving me to my highest destiny, does this make my soul sing?”  “Is this sparking the passion that I have for the life that I’ve dreamed of ?  Is this calling out the very BEST in me?  Don’t settle for the French’s, go for the Poupon that you were made for.

Take away:  Practice asking yourself that question many times during the day.  “How does this serve me?” Get in the habit of seeking out your highest good.

There is absolutely no guilt in fulfilling your dreams or your life’s purpose.  Only you know the passion that your life is suppose to radiate.  Remember:  Shape your life or someone else will.  Don’t leave it to chance.  You have the choice.
