Life begins and ends in gratitude.

In last week’s blog we looked at what it means to live in “abundance” enjoying celebratory food without being dragged into the guilt-pit. Gratitude is the key to spiritual development, enjoying the present moment with thanksgiving.

Many wasteful moments are spent standing in grocery lines patiently waiting for the checker.  Most of the time these precious minutes are spent reading the tabloids stacked in front of you with articles like, “Dirty Divorces,” or “How To Lose 20 pounds in 2 Days,” or “The 50 Million Dollar Breakup.”

Want to make use of this precious time?

Here’s a wonderful way to use your “down time” with a quick prayer of gratitude.

I offer an easy quick–fire prayer to keep you in the present moment offering thanks with an abundant heart.  No memorization.  This is nothing-fancy….merely a stream of thankful consciousness.  Close your eyes for a second to set your intention of a connection with your Giver of all-good gifts and begin:

Thank you, Lord, for this food that I’m buying, thanks also for my the money that I have to purchase what I need, for my body that works to digest this food into energy, for checker standing there trying to be pleasant to all, for all the people in the store – clerks and shoppers, for the truck drivers delivering the food – keep them safe.” You get the idea….

Just let your mind wander praying for whatever or whoever pops into your head.  We can never get enough gratitude.

Besides the “grocery line”, can you think of another place that you could use the “stream of gratitude”?
