It’s strange that we have such a huge commercial holiday, Valentine’s Day, to remind us of our all-important life’s assignment:  Love.  Jesus taught:  “love one another as I have loved you.”  Words that simple with a powerful message.

There is no formula or method to learn to love. Love is never in the abstract.  The good “feeling” is nice but isn’t love.  Love is concrete.   Mother Teresa equates love with service.

“How do I love thee?”, the poem asks….”How do I serve thee?” is the answer.

Pierre Teilard de Chardin reminds us “…love is the most powerful and still the most unknown energy of the world.”  Let us use this energy to love and serve each other, leaving no one outside the circle of friendship.

Day to day, moment to moment, person to person, as we love we change the world. Flowers, valentines, and chocolate are yummy reminders of the richness of service that we are called to.

Guilt-Free Tip:  Put love into everything you do and never worry about the guilt of a “bad decision”.
