Since all this social media and blogging is new to me I immediately have major heart palpitations if something does not work that way I think it should.  All of a sudden my computer would not download (not sure if that’s even the proper word.) the pictures from my camera.  Being a little (or maybe a lot) impatient and ADHD I rushed down to the camera store where I purchased the camera.  They open at 10:00 so I would be their first customer and get their undivided attention. Good plan!  I arrived promptly at 10:00 noticing the unlit and quiet, locked store.  My eyes raced to the store sign advertising the store hours:  “Open Mon.- Fri. 10:00-6:00.  Here I am.  Friday morning 10:00 and the store is closed.  So I waited hoping that their wasn’t a terrible accident or medical problem to keep the store manager from being late.  Why else would the store be locked?  I waited for about 8 minutes (and I was counting).  Finally the familiar face of the store manager came out of Safeway with his coffee and breakfast bag!  He merrily greeted me and didn’t give it a second thought of being “late”.  I read that being late is a way that people use to be in control by making others “wait on them”.  The article referred to their tardiness as a “power play.”  But I don’t think that’s the case here.   Maybe people just don’t care about how their life impacts others.  I was raised to be punctual and considerate of others.  Old habits are difficult to break.  Cleanliness and timeliness were considered next to Godliness.   I’d rather be 10 minutes early, than 10 minutes late with the pang of guilt.  But again, that’s just me!
