From time to time I host a “guest blogger”. I’d like to introduce you to a fellow Balboa Press Author, Barbara McNally. Barbara and I share many of the same issues and insights on the journey of women. I know you will enjoy her contribution. Here’s Barbara…..
DON’T WE ALL WANT TO BE A PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER THAN OURSELVES? DON’T WE ALL WANT TO MATTER? DON’T WE ALL WANT A LIFE FILLED WITH PLEASURE?
I promote enjoying the ride, and to do that, we must (as women) become more involved and engaged with the community.
Don’t we want to bring a little purpose to our passion?
Here are four tools to help you become more engaged and to find room in your life to change the community where you live and love:
1. I follow Malala. Education empowers women. A woman needs to be self-sufficient before she can help someone else.
2. Who do you identify with? Who do you respect as a leader? Find those qualities within you and pursue them!
3. Have a point of view? Don’t just take direction from your father or boyfriend! When, as women, we develop our own point of view, we take responsibility for our lives. We set the stage for the life we want to lead. The Irish say, ” a good debate is as good as good sex.” My views change as I learn and grow, but they are mine. I’m not parroting a man. At one point in my life, it was easier not to think for self, but the price was giving up my freedom.
4. Live life to the fullest by staying positive, practicing random acts of kindness and paying it forward!
Take the time to become a self-sufficient individual so you can hep others!
I continue to evolve and develop my own point of view through publishing a book, starting a foundation, and blogging. I do this not because I’m a do-gooder, but because it’s fun!
I’m inspired by Malala and the power of the pen!
Don’t just be a dependent, give something back, unless you’re an invalid or disabled, and even then look to those who did give something back in sprite of the disabilities, like Helen Keller.
Be the change you want to see in the world!
Thanks, Barbara, for you insights into getting real and getting involved!
