Don’t know if it’s human nature or just me, but we seem to spend a lot of time worrying or trying NOT to worry. We worry about our personal situations, our children, our parents, our health, wealth, and happiness. If we have done the right thing or the wrong thing, what is politically correct or what will people think?
Reading the newspaper and watching television does not help move us away from constant concern, but only widens our “worry world” to include the entire human race and Mother Earth. Our minds are bombarded with worrisome thoughts from everywhere.
The “If Game” Does Not Help
We expend a great deal of precious energy on a road going nowhere. No matter how much we worry, it won’t change the outcome. We think, “if only this could happen” or maybe “if I had only done that”. Playing the “what if” game is devastating to real growth, taking us to chasing ourselves in circles.
Worry plays havoc with our minds taking us away from the present moment. The “now” moment is a one-time gift that needs our full attention. We don’t want to miss it sidetracked by worry, guilt, or anxiety.
Loose Your Grip
We need to “loosen the grip” giving up trying to control and rest assured that everything will work out as it should. It may not be on our timeline or in the manner that we think best. But trust the “Bigger Picture” and the Divine Plan at work. Anxiety must go and be replaced by Faith.
There’s an old Swedish proverb that guides us in our cure for anxiety.
“Fear less, hope more; eat less, chew more; whine less, breathe more; talk less, say more; hate less, love more; and all good things are yours”.

Sounds pretty simple. I think that life IS pretty simple if we live with an open trusting heart. Here’s to your happiness.
