Have you ever noticed how a newly washed car just seems to run better? The same principle applies to our spiritual development.
The engine of the sparkling clean car seems to “purr” along, the ride seems to smooth out, and the parking place that you were looking for just opens up! Everything works in your favor.
But nothing mechanically has changed. You’re driving the same engine supported by the same tires. The only change is in your attitude, your perspective in how the car physically looks. You feel lighter, happier, and “on the right road”.
You can make your spiritual ride a little smoother also by only changing your perspective. Instead of the “wash job” we must take the elevator of gratitude, riding it to the top level to see the newer, bigger, picture. Gratitude is a powerful emotion, making every day Thanksgiving. Gratitude raises our spirits and broadens our vision, taking us on a “high”, feeling lighter and happier.
Gratitude can make sense of the ups and downs that are natural curves in our road of life. When our lives look like a huge pile of jigsaw puzzle pieces, being thankful can assist, giving us the Bigger Picture. Our spiritual development, purrs along like a newly washed car, making the bumps a little smoother.
So let’s approach each day with a grateful heart, thankful for the many gifts that come in an array of packages. Cruise on!
Here’s to your happiness, living guilt-free,
Patty Kogutek
