Usually the term “give up” is associated with a losing mentality: throwing in the towel or waving the white flag. But in the game of life, “giving in” may be just the winning thought.

We try to control our lives by setting goals, measuring up to standards, and keeping to the acceptable timeline (getting married, buying a house, having children or in my case now, “downsizing”!)

But when we attempt orchestrate the details of life we may be missing the bigger picture. We need to let God love us in HIS special way.

Sometimes our timing and God’s timing are not in sync. Unfortunately we want some particular answer to our prayer NOW for OUR plans. But God may have something else in mind according to His plan for eternity.

God will send us the situations we need. I think everyone has many invitations for personal and spiritual growth (that doesn’t show up like “old age”.)

On the balance side, we are given many opportunities to experience joy and happiness. And through it all, it’s imperative we maintain a grateful heart…no matter what.

We just have to “give in”, to surrender to something or someone bigger than us. This is when we need to swap our prayers of supplication to prayer of surrender.

We need to shift our type of prayer. My Prayer of Surrender is easy; it’s four “ever” words:

Whatever (you want, Lord), however (you deem it), whenever (it fits according to your plan), and forever grateful (thank you, Lord, for this opportunity)

“Not my will, but thine, be done.” Jesus taught us how to pray.

We may not understand each circumstance in or life or why things happen the way that they do, but be assured that as God’s treasured children we will be loved and cared for.

Practice surrendering to God’s will with the four “evers”.

Give it up and LET GOD LOVE YOU
