Have you seen the movie, “Florence Foster Jenkins”? Based on a true story, Florence thinks that her supposedly well-trained, well-coached operatic voice is worthy of a performance in Carnegie Hall; nonetheless, when reality strikes, she brings the house down in laughter. Her mind “hears” the angelic aria, but her voice “projects” something similar to a screeching owl.

One of my favorite sayings in life is:

“We never quite see ourselves as others see us.”

It makes me smile and always gives me an excuse for others behavior! And I totally believe that this is true.

On our journey we do not truly know who we are and how we come across to others.

We are human with all of our idiosyncrasies, foibles, weaknesses, faults, shortcomings, and deficiencies. No one is perfect, no matter what he or she thinks.

This life of imperfection is what our human journey is all about. It’s about acceptance, learning lessons and moving on.

So can we really get through this life with grace and dignity, as we would like?

We have to WING IT…THAT’S WHAT ANGELS DO!

We have to be angels for each other. Accept, accommodate, tolerate, endure, and bear the quirks, mistakes, and weaknesses of each other.

How do we gain this virtue of “acceptance” when the actions of others drive us nuts? We need to give up the control button. We do not have control of the lives of others, and perhaps they don’t have control either.

We must know that somehow, someway, each person, and each event in your life is meant to be there.

So let’s be the angels that we are called to be, flutter our wings of acceptance, and give our friends, family members and coworkers the benefit of the doubt.

Let’s give them a “pass” to sing at the top of their voice – no matter how off key they may be because we may never come to know our own, or another’s destiny.

Remember that we are perfect spiritual beings with a less than perfect earthly journey…so WING IT!
