Headed back to MT from a wonderful 10 day vacation in Idaho and Wyoming, Joe motored the car to Interstate 15 bound northward home to Whitefish.

Before we even neared the onramp we were pulled over by one of Idaho’s finest highway patrol. Joe had been clocked for “excessive speed” and fortunate to be reduced to something similar to “murder one”.

After just a little gloating, knowing that I’m the better of the two drivers, I took the wheel, safely navigating us from Idaho into Montana. With my superior attitude well in place I noticed the blue flashing lights of the Montana Highway Patrol following me. What?

I’ve never gotten a speeding ticket before in my entire young life so my heart pounded as I gasped for breath. The friendly “community helper” (as I used to teach my 2nd graders) told me that I was going 11 miles over the speed limit.

Being a student of human nature, the patrolman could sense my disbelief. I could tell he “read” my innocence trying to give me the benefit of any doubt. Then he asked me that all-important question: “Didn’t you even SEE me in the median?”

Nope…missed all the signs. After 2 speeding tickets in a couple of hours, Joe and I crawled back to Whitefish, learning an important lesson: Look for the messages along the way. Slow down. Pay attention.

Can’t you just hear God: Didn’t you even see me in median of your life?

Didn’t you see my beauty in the sunsets? Didn’t you see my strength in the Rocky Mountains? Didn’t you see my peace in the reflections of the lake? Didn’t you see my joy in your friendships? Didn’t you see my support as you stepped outside your comfort zone?

Nope, Lord, I was busy, too busy to take the time to really see you.

Maybe we need to set our own speed limits, not only on the freeways, but also to LIFE. God sends us messages every day. He sends us invitations for us to learn, laugh, and love. But sometimes we are so busy barreling down the highway of daily responsibilities that we miss the message.

These invitations from God, I call G-vites, and they are the topic of my next book: “G-vites- Divine Invitations From God”.

I will be taking daily every day situations, some serious and some more humorous, discussing the learning implication, and then give practical hands on strategies and methods to respond to the invitation. These ideas will help you RSVP to God’s gentle requests ensuring that you don’t miss some all-important messages.

I am getting together an “Inner Circle” of supporters who will be given the opportunity for early readings, free chapters, promotional items and much more. Watch for more information.

I’m all excited about this new project and hope you will be too. In the meantime, watch for your signs along the way. As the comedian, Bill Engvall says, “There’s your sign.”

Have a great week,

Patty (Sister Mary Vodka)
