Just where in the heck is God these days? With the turmoil in the world creating fear, doubt, and worry within, it is difficult to keep our “faith afloat” but that is exactly what we need.

So just where is God in all this mess? I learned in my Catholic upbringing in the traditional Baltimore Catechism, the “God is everywhere”!

With that as our foundation we constantly need to remember that we live in the “Shared Presence” of God. It is up to us to find God in every “noun”….person (including ourselves), every place, and every thing.

How do we find this Presence, this Holy Spirit?

Finding God in Ourselves: Prayer – When we find God within ourselves, it is prayer. We recognize this sacredness within ourselves. We mentally step outside of ourselves, suspending ALL judgments and get into God’s head. We see what God sees. We share one vision, our gaze, and our perception becomes one with God. We melt into HIM….we lose ourselves in his love embracing ourselves as HE does.  We recognize at the deepest level of our being that we are really a part of God and God is an integral part of us…and that is all good. All is good within…all is God within. Finding God within is prayer.

Finding God in in Others: Love – When we find God in others it is love. In a loving relationship we bring a reverence and a respect for the God directly to the spirit in the other person. It’s the “Namaste” moment when the Spirit in me recognizes the Spirit in you. When this awareness takes hold we certainly can see the definition of love in Corinthians, (love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous, it is not rude, it is not quick tempered …..) at work in our daily interactions. What other motivation could there possibly be to being patient, kind and forgiving, etc. if you didn’t find a hint of the Divine is some of these people and situations???

So as the walls come tumbling down, sometimes literally, remember to “keep the faith”. Keep God’s vision and love going with prayer and love. It is only through faith and finding God that we will relax in the Lord enjoying the peace that is meant to be. “Let there then be peace on earth ….”
