Do you ever feel panicked, overwhelmed with pressures that everything needs to be done “right now”?
You are not alone. We live in an age of “insta”…insta gram pictures, immediate microwave meals, instant messaging, prompt emails, jiffy muffin mixes, rapid transit, overnight mail, urgent replies, critical responses, and ASAP notifications!
No wonder we feel overwhelmed by life’s everyday situations…we all run on “instantaneous”!
The other day as I was walking up the street, I noticed a couple on the other side who stopped and took a picture. Having walked up and down this hillside many times without much attention, I looked to see just what caught their eye for this special photo op.
My eye caught sight of a majestic mountain, a beautiful mountain sight that I walk by every day. I noticed they spoke with a distinctive British accent so instantly figured they were new to our areas or possibly visiting. AHA!
Reflecting on the situation, I reminded myself of the old saying, “Stop and smell the roses”. In this day of “insta everything”, there’s not much rose smelling time.
What can we do to create our own needed time to create and appreciate the gifts right under our noses?
How do we create a habit of mindfulness with our spinning minds, and stressing emotions pelting us from every direction?
REMEMBER: There’s no need to rush. What’s meant for you always arrives right on time. Stop trying to control what life is bringing you and where it is taking you. Everything will come to you when you need it or are ready for it. Don’t forget the Zen proverb: When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.
PRETEND you are a visitor, seeing things for the first time. Create a sense of awesomeness viewing things from a different perspective.
PRACTICE meditation and breathing techniques. Find “alone” time. Close your eyes. Inhale deep breaths, hold, and exhale slowly. Feel your pace slow. Someone once said, “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing slowly.”
So get in your “ready” position, be observant to what is right under you nose, keep you eyes pealed for the beauty before you, and let your heart be open to the love surrounding you. Keep the panic and pressure at bay with these 3 simple practices and you will find “insta peace”!
Where do you go to find “insta peace”?
