“This is harder than it looks!” the struggling surfer shouted as he waivered back and forth at the mercy of the waves. Ah, such is the life on the ocean and so too, with our spiritual lives. The constant mix of balancing amidst the elements takes us on some wild waves and rides through life.

Sometimes it seems like we FINALLY get it. Everything comes along so easily. It’s only clear sailing and “bluebird days” ahead. Then suddenly things change. We get sick, lose a job, or a loved one, and so suddenly our world is topsey turvey. We “lose it”, our calculated path is suddenly unclear and we fall off our “board” taking a nosedive, maybe going under a bit, but we eventually come up for air.

And what about our safety, our surfboard supporting us, when we lose our equilibrium and take a spill? We seem to lose all sense of security while under water, often times not knowing which way is up! Fighting to find our sense of balance again we feel that is state of upset will never end.

Remember to relax and breathe. The board, your security, won’t go far being “leashed” to your ankle. We, too, are connected. Like the surfer, we are tethered, having this invisible connection to Source who will never let us go…no matter how far we go under and no matter how long. We are part of something much “grander” that we could ever imagine.

“It’s harder than it looks” only if you lose your bigger picture. Follow your heart, ride your own wave and TRUST you will find your way.

Remember the “7 Secrets to Guilt-Free Living”: #2 “Life is not a matter of chance, but of choices we make along the way”. Choose to TRUST to wave that life brings to you.
