My wonderful husband, Joe, and I usually take about a 3 mile walk every morning, up to the water tower and back. It normally takes us 45 minutes as we take in the beautiful Montana fresh air, sunshine, and forested trees on our mountain..Today we woke up to rain, dark skies shedding their tears.
Dressed ready to go, the rain started to come down a little harder, and Joe declined saying that we have so many “better” days than this. Joe retreated to his office while I grabbed my umbrella, and phone (just in case the heavens broke loose with the deluge) so I could call Joe for pick up service.
On my walk I savored the fresh air breathing in the smell of the damp dirt, kept in time walking with the pitter patter of the droplets spattering on my umbrella, and watched the clouds make all kinds of animals in the sky for me! After about 10 minutes, 1/3 of the way up the hill, the rain completely stopped, the clouds moved on and the sunshine shone so brightly that I laughed thinking that I should call Joe and have him bring my sunglasses.
We all wait for a “better” day for many things. We wait until the kids go off to college to enjoy our spouses, we wait for the house to be paid off to afford that special treat, or we wait until retirement to travel.
I’m here to remind you that this is the “better” day. It’s all part of the same picture, just a different lens. Just because it’s dark, dreary and sometimes even debilitating, the darkness will subside and the sun, light, and love will be there as you remember. So enjoy the Present because it is your Gift.
So we have to remember that life is like the weather; no matter how good or bad the situation is, it will surely change . It is reported that King Solomon had an inscription in his ring that read, “This too shall pass”.
Here’s is your “Guilt-Free” Tip of the Week: There is Perfect in Imperfection. Change your thinking.
P.S. This photo looks exactly like our walk in a Montana fall.
