Patty Gives Back

Fresh Start, Phenix, AZ

Since our move to Arizona, I have grown to know and love the Fresh Start Foundation. It is a program for women in transition and since I have been in transition many times in my life, I felt a strong connection to these women. For the past three months, I have participated in a series of workshops in which I was able to give my “These Pumps Are Made for Kicking Guilt” workshops as well as “Balancing Work and Your Personal Life”. I reached over one hundred and fifty women through these workshops and was able to provide tips for living a guilt free, happy life. Below are some testimonials from the “Balancing Work and Your Personal Life” from the Inspired Leadership Series.  www. freshstartwomen.org

Servants of Mary, Omaha, NE

To help meet the growing needs of the Servants of Mary meeting the needs of the aging community, and to ensure that quality healthcare continues to reach out to the residents and surrounding areas of Whitefish, MT, I am donating 10% of the net profits of this book to these two charities.  Please visit their websites to appreciate the services they bring making the world a much better place.

I lived as a nun in the order of the Servants of Mary in Omaha, NE for seven years.  Although the religious life was not for me, I applaud their mission statement and aim to bring the same dedication and commitment to my secular world calling.

When I joined the convent in 1965 there were close to three hundred nuns, with the average age of forty-nine.   By 2010, a mere eighty-four nuns comprised the order with the average age of seventy-five.  Only a handful of nuns are under sixty years old.

Mission Statement:  The mission of the Servants of Mary is to manifest God’s compassionate presence in the spirit of Mary.  We respond to the words of Jesus:  “Be compassionate as your God is compassionate.”  We do so by following the example of Jesus, under the guidance of Mary.

North Valley Hospital, Whitefish, MT– http://www.nvhosp.org/

It has been my privilege on the North Valley Hospital Foundation Board since 2005.  I acted as the chairperson for our capital campaign raising over six million dollars to build a state-of –the-art hospital in the Northwest corner of the state of Montana.  Their personalized care is captured in their vision statement.

Mission Statement: To be the center of healing for the communities we serve.

Vision:  To collectively serve as a catalyst for healing of the mind, body and spirit in a patient-centered environment, and to commit to stewardship of healthcare resources in order to continually improve the health of the communities we serve.
