The sign in the parking lot read “Customer Parking only”.  I had an appointment in the office around the corner from the shopping center with street parking being the only available space for my car.  My business was not quite in the shopping center and I was not quite a “customer” and not strictly qualified for “customer parking only”!  Hence the “guilt attack”that set in as I excited my “illegally” parked car.  The one thing my spiritual upbringing drilled into me was following the rules made for peaceful sailing.

Wanting to ease my guilty conscience, I came up with the only lawful solution:  I became a “customer”.  I quickly went into the beauty supply and bought 3  unneeded products to qualify for my parking space.  (If 1 item was good then 3 purchases ought to really seal my innocence) I breathed a sigh of relief, fulling the letter of the law.  My spiritual awareness threw out the “spirit of the law”, but by damn I was a paying customer now and could park there “guilt-free”.

Good thing a guilt sponge like me is always 10 minutes early for an appointment because I made it to my scheduled meeting on time.  If I was late that would be a different pang of guilt.  Oh, the life of a guilt sponge.

Guilt Free Tip of the Week:  Embrace the feeling of calm.  Don’t feel stressed and over anxious with the “musts” and “shoulds” of life.  Breathe in and relax knowing all is well.
